The Angel is a hybrid pet in Rappelz best used as a support pet in dungeon parties.
Angels can heal, but they don't heal as well as Blue Pixies. Their heal is stronger than a Blue Pixie's Prayer, but Blue Pixies have both Prayer and Celestial Prayer (a heal-over-time spell) and can also apply their stage skill to amplify heals on a single target. The Blue Pixie being cheaper and easier to tame makes it a better choice if all you want the pet is for healing. Blue pixies are however squishy and cannot dd effectively.
Angels one less magic atk at lvl 150 than the Red Pixie has giving it a lower overall dps despite the higher passives. Also, Red Pixies have the advantage of being ranged, while Angels are of melee range, making them run to the target once a skill has been cast (both pets have weak basic attacks). Again, red pixies are squishy and go down quickly if they get aggro.
Where an Angel bests both pixies by leaps and bounds is its base HP and Physical Defense. Theoretically, Angels are capable of tanking, however this proves difficult at higher levels due to high character damage. The Angel's damage output is low so it easily loses aggro to other people or dd pets. However, an Angel does seem to be effective for tanking in lower level parties because it can hold linked monsters and constantly generate more threat by healing itself. With level 1 Threatening Essence pimped warrior armor and a good staff or mace, angels have the defense and HP to take the hits which would kill many other mage pets. At higher levels (rank 5 and up) it becomes very difficult to use the Angel for tanking, and while the high base HP and Physical Defense are impressive, they are never really put to test because the Angel rarely pulls aggro from damage-dealing pets. Saying that, angels have saved many squishy characters with their heal and been able to survive a few hits until the mob(s) have been taken off them.
The Angel is best described as a jack of a few trades, but a master of none. It's not the best healer, not the best nuker, and not the best tank in the game. However it does offer a little of everything in a single pet, which makes it a good support pet in parties, and it also proves useful when soloing at lower levels.
Angels are a curious pet, in a decent to good party they are nearly useless, but as the quality of the party goes down angels really start to shine.
