Deva Warrior Master Class
The Mercenary is a warrior that excels at both defense and high damage AoE-Attacks and is an expert with two-handed weapons and one-handed swords.
Highlights[]
Strengths[]
- High Defense and damage reduction, with potentially one of the biggest HP Pools after Templar and Beastmaster.
- A wide range of high damaging AOE attacks.
- The very straight-forward playstyle allows even rather unexperienced players to tackle high level content.
Weaknesses[]
The mercenary will always need to stay in the melee range of enemies to deal damage. Despite it's relatively high defense, this can still lead to problems with survivability, as most high level enemies do lots of damage and the mercenary lacks sufficient ranged- and CC-skills to avoid it completely.
Notable Skills[]
Invigorating Aura: Toggle Skill that increases Strength and physical attack by a lot. (Can not be used with defensive stance)
Defensive Stance: The counterpart to invigorating Aura greatly boosts Vitality and max. Health. (Can not be used with Invigorating Aura)
Immortality: Self-Buff that grants temporary Immortality. Allows you to get out of difficult situations or beat bosses that could otherwise kill you.
Dual Strike: AOE-Attack that does extremely high damage. In raw damage numbers the mercenaries most powerfull skill.
Wild Stream: AOE-Attack with low cooldown that applies a potent DoT-Effect. Great for farming large groups of mobs.
Hate Aura: Aoe that aggros all mobs in a 20-meter radius. Extremely useful in order to get everything into AOE-range.
Divine Flash: AOE-Attack that blinds enemies. Great to temporarily reduce incoming damage.
Caveats[]
[List of broken skills and features, if applies]
Recommended Builds[]
Weapon:[]
- Spear: Main weapon for maximum damage-output. Other 2-handed Weapons are also an option but they give less physical attack with no benefits to make up for it.
- Dual one-handed Swords: Lower damage than spear but the heals from hector- and phoenix bosscards trigger more often. This makes them an option for some additional survivability.
- Shield: It's recommended to get a shield to use the "Shield of revenge" and "Deflecting shield" buffs. The shield is only required to apply the buffs. They still work until they run out even if directly switched back to spear. It's also possible to use the shield in combination with a 1-handed sword or mace in battle for some additional tankyness. This will however reduce the damage output quite significantly, because mercenaries have additional passive skills for two-handed weapons and dual one-handed swords but not for single one-handed weapons.
Skill on Gear:[]
It's recommended to get the "Lust for Blood" skill on equipment. It used to be invigorating aura instead but you many mercenaries have to use defensive stance to be able to survive high level content. Since it's impossible to use both at the same time, it might as well have no skill at all as you don't get any effect from it in these situations. Lust for blood allows to stay flexible and use the toggle skills as needed without sacrificing too much damage-output.
The clear downside to Lust for Blood is that it doesn't trigger on Mobs with full HP.
Stats on Gear:[]
Maximum amount of sockets. They're equal to up to 95 Strength or Vitality or 19.5% Critpower. That's a lot. Critpower is the priority there however, so an armor with only 3 slots is still a viable option because it still allows the maximum amount of critpower to be socketed.
You can also roll Accuracy and/or Evasion in high amounts on most parts of your Gear. That's a good way to get the accuracy needed and fill the rest with evasion. What makes sense depends on what's on other parts. There is no benefit from more Accuracy if attacks already hit consistently. If there are high amounts of Accuracy on both weapon and gloves, getting evasion on the armor is a good choice.
Weapon: As much p.atk and crit power as possible. Accuracy and evasion are also recommended to hit consistently and dodge as many hits as possible.
Gloves: Accuracy, Critical power and Cast speed work well. Other Stats don't really benefit the mercenary.
Boots: Movement speed, Evasion, magic resistance. Might also use perfect block instead of magic resistance for shield use.
Armor: Max HP, Evasion. Or accuracy instead of evasion if there's none on weapon and gloves.
Soul stones:[]
As much Critpower as possible. The remaining Slots can be filled with Strength and Vitality. It‘s recommended to get as much Strength (=Damage) as possible, but it should be taken into account that a dead mercenary deals even less damage than a tanky one. As little Vitality as possible, as much as necessary.
Belt pets:[]
There are different builds for beltbets that all have their own ups and downs but will absolutely do their job. There are too many variations so here is only one example i deem the best overall.[]
1: S4 Minotaur, S3 Minotaur, S3 Minotaur for 33,5% Strength, Vitality, P.Atk and P.Def. The other 2 slots are then filled with either Unicorns, Nightmares or Snowman depending on the Situation.
Important Bosscards:[]
- Hector's card of courage: Some additional damage with a powerfull HP-leech effect. Main source of healing. Extremely usefull and almost unreplaceable.
- Devil Skeleton Increases damage by a lot. It reduces max. Hp a little but the trade is worth it.
- Devil Reviac: Lots of critical power but makes it a lot harder to reach 100% critical hit chance. It's always the first card replaced when something else is needed or a phoenix card is aquired.
- Chaotic Phoenix warrior: Replaces either reviac or (if the heal isn't needed) Hector card once it becomes an option. More damage with no real downsides. The HP leech effect is a little worse than the hector cards so it wont replace it but rather add to it.
Additional usefull Bosscards:[]
- Wooden devil: Recommended for use against mobs with high defense values like in sky fortress and Twilight. On these mobs it increases damage more than some of the cards above.
- Yushiva card: Increases HP significantly while reducing damage output a little. Only use if some additional HP is needed to survive.
- Obsidikar: Low chance to give a short windows of invulnerability. Only really usefull with high numbers of mobs. Otherwise too inconsistent.
- Ilrios: Gives a 30% shield buff similair to the one from gnolls. Apparently worse than obsidikars shield but it goes 13 seconds longer so it reduces the damage a lot more consistently.
- Bear mother: Some additional dropchance. Good when farming weak mobs, as they will go down very quickly either way.
- Soul of lunacy: Heals based on HP so it's quite good while on defensive stance. Doesn't add any additional damage tho so only used if necessary. For example if the HP leech of the hector card doesn't cut it.
Pets[]
Mainpet[]
- Bloodthirsty slaughterer has the best unity skill. It's Unparalleled Strength skill can also be used to temporarily boost your damage. It's possible to equip the mainpet a yushiva belt to increase the unity by 1 level for some extra stats.
- Crystal Spider can in some situations be extremely useful due to it's AOE stuns, heals and Debuffs. Only use it when having problems tanking large groups of mobs.
Others:
- Gnoll for buffing shield reflection. Equipped with a yushiva belt and 2 artifacts to get the buff to 52% damage reflection. It can also buff "murderous Intent" which greatly increases critchance and accuracy at the cost of movement speed. Very usefull.
- Death tyrant for it's awakening buffs. Can also use an artifact or yushi belt to get the buff to 30 minutes. Can't go any longer than that tho. They also have the "Bloody vengeance" buff that that gives a ridicilous amount of HP leech for 20 seconds.
