A few thoughts. Feel free to roll back my edits of the main_top template however here is my reasoning:

  1. We should preserve as much vertical space on the main page as possible so that the key content headlines are easily seen.
  2. Readers with no desire to contribute want to see evidence of content not requests for help.
  3. Visitors who are inclined to help are going to read the RH column and/or the bottom nav bar for further instruction/guidance.

It took a bit of trial and error to force the footer to the bottom of the two columns on this page. The key was the use of style parameters: style="clear:both;" which has now been baked in to Template:nav_bottom so that can freely be used at the bottom of every page that wants the administrative links and copyright permission notice.

A matching Template:nav_top was created with just the links to top level content as well as the Home link. I know that there are

  • Home
  • Forum
  • Random Page

links at the every top of all pages. I don't know how to edit in that area but if I could I'd place those 4 or 5 links (that are currently in nav_top) alongside the Home, Forum and Random Page links.

There is an ultra-fine-print footer link to a post (from GM grimli) explicitly giving permission for the use of images derived from in-game screen shots and the official Rappelz web site so long as it is for a non-commercial purpose.

  • Therefore the appropriate copyright tag to use on all such images is the {{Template:FairUse}} tag:

This file is copyrighted. The individual who uploaded this work and first used it in an article, and subsequent persons who place it into articles, assert that this qualifies as fair use of the material under United States copyright law.

As long as the fan site is not used for commercial purposes, then it is acceptable to use images from our game and website on your own. Please cite where you took it from, such as "Rappelz home page,"

A generic footer on your page would be acceptable:

Rappelz Library (wiki)Edit

Hello all!

Are contributors to this wikia interested in merging your effort with the Rappelz Library (wiki) at this link?

Being a late comer to this wikia site I am not going to unilaterally initiate a merge but I would certainly support it. If you need a delegate to approach Gala-Net (the Rappelz Library appears to be tanda's project) then I am happy to do so.

  • My only concern would be if the Gala-Net Sysop chooses to censor content in the interest of keeping certain inner-workings of the game shrouded in mystery and intrigue. I know that if I were Gala-Net management I might think that way.

Either way I propose we have a discussion about the appropriate future of this wikia site in light of the evolving Rappelz Library (wiki) and the already useful AlizarinHQ web site.

I believe there are benefits to lending support to the Gala-Net maintained wiki.

What do you think ?

Hidden Gems Edit

Today I stumbled across the pages showing tables of various equipment costs. This is great info to have on hand.

  • How can we make the presence of such buried pages more visible from the main page?
  • Is there some site map style view?
  • Is there some hierarchical Table Of Contents that could be accessed from the main page?

Skill TemplateEdit

Have we decided on a skill template? I have been making skill pages and there all different. I would like to use a template and just have them some what standardized if possible.

There is an infobox for skills at Template:Infobox_Skill but I think it is too big! I used it for the Creature Taming skill and it's fine for one skill per page type article but I was hoping for a format that could print on one or two pages to have as a handy reference beside you when you play.

Talking point - skill template

talking point - skill template

I was wanting to use something much shorter and much wider so that when stacked one above the other produces a print friendly list similar to what the Alizarin HQ list of skills is like. I have so far ben working within an Excel spread sheet (see screen shot below) to get an idea of what info could be included in a wide and short box.

My current thoughts are to adopt something very close to the collapsed view of skills that AlizarinHQ uses but to add to each info box:
  • cast, cool, duration (in seconds)
  • buff, debuff or DOT times/intervals as relevant
  • level 1 effect and MP cost (in a shorthand notation)
  • incremental effect and MP cost per level
  • space permitting: max level (for the current job)
  • space permitting: card effect (in a shorthand notation)
No table of JP values in this box.
shorthand being
+12 P.Atk (for increased effect) and
MP 22 (for initial/increased cast cost)
MP -2 (for reduced cast cost from +1 card, etc)

cast, cool, duration written as 3 comma separated numbers with no units and no cast, cool, duration text) - use a legend instead

Only last night I sent a message to Alizarin key players asking for any recommendations from them since they've been down this same path before and since they'll be a primary source of data for us.

What ideas do you have?

I'm afraid that would be too much information, it would clutter up the page. I don't think we need all those details right on the class pages, but creating separate pages like that sounds like a splendid idea (Summary of Kahuna skills or something along those lines, linked from the class page like this). No problem, that sounds fair enough. I did not plan on making any start until I'd heard back from Golladan or A.Dantes. I bcc:'d you (drennan) on my note to them since I see you have an account at AlizarinHQ.

Wiki updates Section Edit

Hi all

Since it is not really kept up to date, I feel that the Wiki updates section on the main page should be removed, or it's purpose made clear because right now it contains an information about the game. However, the section is Wiki updates...

My two cents!
